The generosity of our alumni and friends has helped to shape UCL Laws, and with your support, we can continue to be a world-leading faculty, attracting some of the best and brightest students, researchers and teachers from the UK and across the globe.
We need your help to establish scholarships and bursary schemes to encourage and support our students during their studies, to help pay for books, tuition fees and living expenses. By supporting our teaching and research, you can help us to continue in our work to address the great challenges facing the world today, to influence the development of government policies, national and international laws and legal principles, and to contribute to public debate and the understanding of the law and legal rights.
In the past, gifts from UCL Laws alumni have enabled our students to gain valuable practical legal experience and to help the local community through pro bono advice. In 2013, the UCL Centre for Access to Justice was established following the launch of the Pro Bono Project, which was made possible by the donations of alumni and friends of the faculty in 2010. This innovative Centre combines legal education with the provision of pro bono legal advice to vulnerable communities, and specialises in the areas of education, social welfare and employment law.
The generous support of individual donors has helped us to redevelop our facilities, and provide a better environment for teaching and learning. Our students are able to take advantage of the state of the art facilities of the Denys Holland Lecture Theatre, while the Cissy Chu Common Room provides an ideal space for students to relax between classes, as well as a venue for social events and celebrations. However, as UCL Laws continues to grow, we have a real need for more space – and better space – to conduct our work. By giving to the faculty, you can help us to improve our facilities, and nurture excellence at UCL Laws for years to come.
