The UCL Law Society is pleased to be recognised as one of the top 10 University Societies in the UK (National Undergraduate Employability Awards). This Award, sponsored by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, celebrates university societies that have promoted and encouraged their members to undertake some form of work experience.
Godwin Tan Gelun, LLB student and President of the UCL Law Society, said:
‘As a Society, we are very active in promoting career opportunities and encouraging our members to undertake work experience. We partner with more than 40 UK and overseas law firms and chambers.
We hold weekly solicitor and barrister career events, as well as other annual career events such as the Pathfinder Conference, Magic Circle Quiz, and Career Booster Student Panel. We also partner with firms to hold exclusive open days for our members and take the creative approach of awarding work experience through social events. Furthermore, we have an exclusive Law Society CV and Applications Guide, as well as an international careers guide focusing on applying to overseas firms.
Besides promoting work opportunities, we equip our members with key skills through our internal and inter-varsity competitions in negotiations, debating, client interviewing, mediation and mooting.’
